GAMEHOLE CON GAMING INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
Behaving ethically is at the heart of what it means to be a professional; it distinguishes professionals from others in our industry. We've created a clear and streamlined set of professional and ethical standards that we expect each and every of our industry guests to follow while attending Gamehole Con proper or any Gamehole Con related event or activity. The purpose of these standards is to ensure that all of our attendees, volunteers, exhibitors and fellow industry guests are treated with respect and decency.
There are six standards:
- Always act with integrity. This means being trustworthy in everything that you do. It means being proud of each and every of your interactions while at our show. It means conducting yourself at all times in a way that is above any reproach.
- Always be courteous and kind in all of your interactions. This should be self-explanatory, but means always being courteous, polite and considerate to everyone else you come into contact with at Gamehole Con. If you ever find yourself in a situation at our show where you find this challenging, break off that interaction immediately, and come find a Gamehole Con staff member for assistance.
- Act in a way that promotes inclusiveness and acceptance in our industry. This means understanding how your actions affect others and doing everything reasonably in your power or control to foster a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for everyone at Gamehole Con. This also means sublimating your own personal moral, ethical or political views if they somehow clash with this clear directive.
- Treat others with respect. This means expressly understanding that our hobby has had a problem with harassment and that you, as an industry professional, will never engage in any behavior that could ever be construed as harassing. If any ambiguity exists on this point, please consult our harassment policy here (hyperlink). It also means to never discriminate against anyone for whatever reason. Always ensure that issues of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, size, religion, country of origin or disability have no place in the way you deal with anyone at Gamehole Con.
- Take responsibility for your actions. If someone makes a complaint about something that you have done, then respond in an appropriate and professional manner and aim to resolve the matter to the satisfaction of the complainant as far as you can.
- Always act like a professional. Tabletop gaming has always been regarded as a “fringe†industry. However, as the industry grows and the market share increases, more and more people are coming into the hobby. It is incumbent on all tabletop gaming industry professionals to foster this growth through professional behavior. Professional behavior includes all of the above. Public intoxication, for example, is obviously not professional behavior.
