Forty years ago, Dismal Hollow was an isolated mountain village in Appalachia. The residents didn’t want much to do with city folk, let alone the government. But when federal agents in dark suits showed up offering hard cash for “subterranean rights,” a lot of folks agreed. The railroad came, and the town boomed, but well before the Great War, all the outsiders had picked up and left. Now, a melancholy breeze whistles through abandoned buildings, and the tracks rust quietly, obscured by thickets of milkweed and aster, lost in banks of redolent fog. Your investigation has led you to this forlorn spot—what will you discover?
