Over the last decade, the appeal of “old school” has broadened past “aping TSR” into something much more intriguing. Younger D&D players in their twenties and thirties clearly appreciate adventures written with an old-school approach, yet in many cases they have never played the earliest editions of D&D. Clearly there is more to the appeal of “old-school” than simply rules. Join Joseph Goodman, Doug Kovacs, and Matt Hildebrand as they try to articulate what we all know but can rarely phrase clearly – the aesthetic of old-school.
